Employment rights

In October 2016 Labour requested clarification on the future of employment rights post-Brexit, including EU nationals currently employed by the digital industry in the UK, by askingWill the government guarantee that no existing employment rights will be put ‘on the table’ when it comes to:
(i) negotiating trade deals with third countries in the future; or
(ii) seeking to incentivise multinational companies to invest or become/remain headquartered in the UK?”

Progress and developments:
Promises, vows, and lofty statements, but no actual progress to date.

For an examination of the issues on the table see Section 4 of the House of Commons briefing paper.

In September 2018 Government published guidance on workplace rights stemming from European legislation in the event of a “no deal” Brexit.
